Rep. Tenney (R-NY) Introduces Bill to Protect Pro-life Pregnancy Centers after Second Attack in Buffalo

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) is reintroducing the Pregnancy Resource Center Defense Act to the 118th Congress. This comes after CompassCare’s Christian pro-life medical office in Buffalo was attacked a second time by Maoist Antifa, pro-abortion terrorists. In a recent statement, Rep. Tenney said, “Kathy Hochul, Letitia James, and President Biden have all failed to condemn this attack and offer protection to CompassCare and the people it serves. Rev. Jim Harden and the entire team at CompassCare work tirelessly and compassionately to provide critical care and services to expecting mothers. Our federal, state, and local law enforcement must work together to protect CompassCare and bring the perpetrators of both attacks to justice.”

The first attack on CompassCare was a firebombing on June 7, 2022, injuring two firefighters and the second vandalism on March 16, 2023. There have been no arrests in either case. Since the unprecedented security breach at the Supreme Court, resulting in the leak of the Dobbs decision, sparked a pro-abortion crimewave on May 2, 2022, there have been over 300 attacks on Christian pro-life entities nationwide. CEO of CompassCare, Rev. Jim Harden says, “Pro-life people are being robbed of equal protection under the law precisely because we believe preborn babies are fully human, deserving of equal protection under the law.”

In Rep. Tenney’s press release announcing the bill, Rev. Harden said, “The attacks on Christian pro-life groups represent a threat to the Constitutional rule of law. Because all people are made in the image of God, we are equally valuable and deserving of equal protection without qualification—including a mother and her preborn child. Rep. Tenney’s [Pregnancy Resource Center Defense Act] sends the message that peaceful Christian pro-life people, like all people, should be able to walk out their beliefs free from political vilification, censorship, threats, and violence.”

Rev. Harden predicts the response of pro-abortion politicians to Rep. Tenney’s bill saying, “It is important to note that this bill is not about abortion. Yet, similar to previously passed H Con Res. 3, when pro-abortion politicians were provided an opportunity to denounce domestic terror aimed at pro-life people, they will again lie to the public, mischaracterizing this bill as somehow anti-abortion in order to protect pro-abortion domestic terror emanating from Maoist Antifa. The only goal of this bill is to stop the violence against pro-life people and property. A politician who stands against this bill stands against the rule of law.”

Help CompassCare expand to reach and serve even more women seriously considering abortion in NY and across the United States.
