Zohran Mamdani is now the Mayor-elect of New York City. During his campaign, he “vowed to ‘protect New Yorkers from’ pro-life pregnancy centers which he accused of spreading ‘false or deceptive information.’” His threat refers directly to CompassCare. CompassCare runs the only three pro-life medical pregnancy centers in all of New York City. His threat mimics the lawsuit brought by pro-abortion activist Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General, who endorsed Mamdani’s mayoral bid.
Many people are asking how the newly elected, self-avowed, Islamic communist will impact the already battered Christian pro-life medical pregnancy centers like CompassCare. The Christian pro-life pregnancy network is already managing lawsuits with New York State Legislation, lawsuits with New York City ordinances, lawsuits from New York Attorney General Letitia James, Big Tech censorship, and security concerns of a resurgence of pro-abortion violence, emboldened by the revolutionary rhetoric from Marxist politicians in Democrat clothes.
Mamdani’s campaign trail threats notwithstanding, what can pro-life Christian pregnancy centers realistically expect from Mayor Mamdani? The answer all depends on which of Mamdani’s fundamentalisms shows up for work. Either one is lethal to America’s Constitutional Rule of Law, rooted in Judeo-Christian beliefs, beliefs that are the basis for pro-life words and work in the public square.
Recall the Declaration of Independence that all people are endowed by our Creator with “unalienable rights,” the first of which, the right upon which all other rights are predicated, is the right to life. Beware any government willing to accrue to itself the power to disqualify any category of human from personhood. Which category of human will be next on Madame Guillotine’s chopping block? The disabled, diseased, elderly, depressed, or the politically disfavored who seek the protection of those inconvenient classes? Governments that deign to disqualify any person, history has always revealed as dictators.
Recall the 1st Amendment, the first in order and first in importance, respecting freedom of religion and speech in the public square so pro-life people can freely speak on behalf of the voiceless preborn and protect them through service.
Recall the 5th Amendment, guaranteeing that no person should be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, which every abortion violates.
Recall the 14th Amendment, ensuring equal protection under the law for all persons, which, again, every abortion ignores.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: neither Mamdani nor ostensibly pro-abortion Democrats care about women’s rights or abortion. If they did, they would recognize that abortion is the glove that covers the fingerprints of sex trafficking syndicates in NYC and that abortion increases a woman’s risk of breast cancer by 44%, future preterm deliveries by 52%, and carries a 5X increased risk of suicide. They care about what abortion gives them. Ginning up the masses around women’s rights propaganda is emotional manipulation serving only to gain public support to dismantle the rule of law under color of law.
Protecting a government-fabricated right to abortion ultimately conflicts with the unalienable right to life for a baby or the freedoms outlined in the 1st, 5th, and 14th Amendments. This legal deconstruction paves the way to place more power in the hands of a few who seek to enslave a tunnel-vision population intent on satisfying their sexual appetites. Crafty.
But enough of liberty legal theory, if Mamdani’s Islamic fundamentalism shows up to work, he will not be all that interested in abortion as an issue to motivate the masses since Islamic belief holds, “…the preponderant opinion implemented for fatwa, abortion is absolutely prohibited….” On the other hand, CompassCare could eventually be targeted for the Christian core belief we espouse to our patients, which Muslims see as blasphemy: Jesus Christ is God.
But, if Mamdani’s communistic fundamentalism shows up to thank his communist campaign sponsors, he will use abortion and ‘women’s reproductive rights’ as one of many revolutionary flashpoints, such as pro-Palestinianism, anti-Capitalism, environmentalism, and open immigration, as political destabilizers in an effort to unify the masses around a common enemy. The atheistic Marxist enemy is the rich and powerful, whose Christian capitalism is said to enslave the common man, the common man who, of course, Mamdani uncommonly represents. If Mamdani takes this route, CompassCare and other pro-life groups will become his politically convenient enemy, vilified for political gain.
We are watching this very carefully as CompassCare runs the only three pro-life medical offices in NYC. There is no shortage of abortion in NYC. To say that the organization is in competition with the 53 NYC abortionists and headquarters for the U.S. abortion pill manufacturer Danco Laboratories may be giving them a bit more credit than deserved. The abortion pill represents nearly 65% of all U.S. abortions. This is a true David and Goliath story.
But Christian pro-lifers can take courage, whatever happens. Despite the severe headwinds, God has allowed CompassCare to continue expanding emergency care for women facing unplanned pregnancy here in the heart of America’s abortion capital.
Remember our Good Lord’s promise, “How blessed is he who considers the helpless; the LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble” (Ps. 41:1). If 70% of women who’ve had an abortion report being coerced, 1 in 10 women end up in the ER after taking chemical abortion, and preborn boys and girls are robbed of legal standing in New York, then a woman and her preborn baby are the most helpless.
Let us faithfully consider the helpless if for no other reason than the fact that one day in the not-too-distant future, you and I will become the helpless.
