Monica said “no” to abortion!

Monica works two jobs and is raising teenage children on her own—no father in the picture. Then she discovered she was pregnant.

The father of this baby? A man who is no longer responding to her calls.

Monica had an abortion years ago, but this time felt different. She didn’t want another abortion, but she couldn’t see how a new baby would fit into her already overwhelming life. Her schedule was maxed out. Her finances were stretched thin. This wasn’t the time or season to care for an infant. Most of her friends said an abortion was the only answer. Embarrassed and uncertain, she came to CompassCare with a heart full of questions and nowhere else to turn.

A CompassCare nurse listened carefully, without judgment, and offered solid clinical advice, heart-felt wisdom, and the freedom that comes through grace in Jesus. During the ultrasound, Monica saw her healthy baby on the screen—tiny fingers, a beating heart, unmistakably real. In that moment, something shifted.

Monica’s life circumstances didn’t change and fear didn’t disappear, but having the baby no longer seemed insurmountable.

She said yes to letting Christ be Lord of her life. She said yes to carrying her baby to term, trusting that God would provide a way forward she couldn’t yet see.

“Things happen for a reason,” Monica said, adding, “Abortion is not what I want right now.”
