Abortion Linked to Poor Outcomes for Subsequent Pregnancies

Recently a European study of all first-time mothers between 1996 and 2013 found a link between abortion and poor outcomes for subsequent pregnancies. This comes just days ahead of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s gaff that abortion is safer than childbirth. The study reveals a 2.3-fold and 1.6 fold increase risk of extremely preterm birth for women with one abortion and almost doubling the risk if she has had two or more. The study states, “Even in countries with high‐quality and reliable health services, abortion may lead to adverse birth outcomes, which could have significant public health implications.”

Wherever one may stand on abortion this study asks us to consider the dangers of abortion to the future brothers and sisters of every aborted baby.
