New York State is the nation’s abortion capital. Recently the NY State Department of Vital Statistics released its annual summary of abortion activity. Abortion continues its decade long downward trend. When the slide began in 2006, abortions numbered over 121,000 in NY. Since then abortions, are down 46% to 77,810. The most recent year over year comparison saw the number fall by 5%.
Conventional wisdom might dictate that extreme abortion expansion laws for which New York has become notorious, would cause abortions to increase but the opposite is happening. Despite the happy fact that fewer women feel like abortion is their only choice, Medicaid funded abortions still account for about half all abortions, which, according to a freshly published poll, continues making a plurality of taxpayers unhappy.
