Judge in New York Strikes Conscience Protections for Docs

In May the Department of Health and Human Services issued a new rule protecting the conscience rights of medical providers who refuse to participate in abortion because of their beliefs. New York Attorney General Letitia James filed suit on behalf of Planned Parenthood and others to strike the conscience protections. U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer sided with the abortion activists.

Attorney Stephanie Taub says, “This decision leaves health care professionals across America vulnerable to being forced to [facilitate] procedures that violate their conscience.”
