September began the 74th United Nations General Assembly. It was there that President Trump declared, “Global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that wish to protect innocent life….we in America believe that every child, born and unborn, is a sacred gift from God.”
Trump’s pro-life declaration to global leaders was the crowning moment of weeks of international pro-life coalition building. Earlier in the week U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar along with ministers representing four of the six World Health Organization regions revealed a joint statement maintaining in part, “We do not support…ambiguous terms…such as…reproductive rights in U.N. documents, because they can undermine the critical role of the family and promote practices, like abortion….There is no international right to an abortion and these terms should not be used to promote pro-abortion policies.”
