Nora’s Story: Reverse an Abortion? Nora Didn’t Know That It Was Possible

Nora* and her husband David have a successful small business and were content raising their four children. Life seemed perfect until she discovered she was pregnant. Shocked and shaken by the unanticipated positive test, Nora shared the news with David, who also responded with alarm.

She slowly shook her head, still in disbelief. “I don’t even know how to process this. I don’t know if I want to do this again.”

Agreeing with his wife, David responded, “I don’t think I have the capacity to love another child. Maybe you should get an abortion.”

“You think?” Nora searched on her phone for Planned Parenthood and had an appointment set up soon thereafter to obtain a medical abortion.

She completed the two-day regimen of pills, but almost as soon as she took the final dose of pills, Nora began to sob with regret. She ran to David, who shared his wife’s regret. “I don’t want to do this if you don’t want to, Nora!”

While looking up abortion pill reversal online, they discovered CompassCare. The pregnancy-sustaining progesterone therapy provided by CompassCare is often effective, but only if given soon after the first abortion pill is ingested. The second dose of pills causes contractions expelling the baby within a day or two after taking the pills.

Nora and David understood that it was highly unlikely that the baby would survive, but wanted an ultrasound to be sure, and possibly progesterone therapy, if there was somehow still a chance to save the pregnancy.

“I didn’t know there was a way to reverse the abortion after the first pill. I thought I had to go through with it. I just didn’t know.”

To Nora’s dismay, there were no signs of life on the ultrasound monitor, and she began to weep. “I did this to myself. I wish I had taken more time to think it through. I shouldn’t have reacted so quickly to get the abortion.”

“I didn’t know CompassCare existed. I didn’t know there was a way to reverse the abortion after the first pill. I thought I had to go through with it. I just didn’t know.”

Nora’s nurse shared with her the power of forgiveness through faith in Christ, but the tragedy was fresh, and she wanted time to process all that had transpired.

If only Nora knew about CompassCare. If she only took the time to talk with someone about reimagining her future. If only Nora knew that the help and support she needed was in her own neighborhood.

Prayerfully,

The CompassCare Team
