Every woman’s unplanned pregnancy is different. While some assume the typical patient is an unwed teenager, that is the extreme minority. The reality is that unplanned pregnancies happen to women throughout their childbearing years in all stations of life.
Courtney* is married. She has four children. She is a regular church attender. She works a job that takes its toll both physically and emotionally. Life is full. She believes too full for another infant in the home.
When she discovered her pregnancy, it tipped the scale. Her husband was happy about the possibility of having a new baby. At the same time, he felt overwhelmed. Abortion was on the table. But they came to CompassCare!
“Everything will work out—it always does.”
At the initial visit, the nurse listened with compassion. Sensing Courtney’s restlessness, she shared the peace the Gospel brings. Even though church attendance is a part of the family’s regular routine, Courtney confessed she had never fully yielded her heart to Christ and welcomed the nurse leading her in a prayer of surrender. The pair left with a sense of hope but still undecided about whether to continue the pregnancy.
At a follow-up visit, Courtney shared with the nurse that despite her strenuous circumstances, they had decided to continue the pregnancy. She stated, “Everything will work out—it always does,” and shared that she felt a true sense of peace about her decision.
Your prayers and financial support gave Courtney and her family hope in a difficult season. Even in the midst of significant ups and downs within a short amount of time, God used the entire experience to give her a new life.
Prayerfully,
The CompassCare Team
