Biblically-Based Sanctity of Life Resources for You and Your Pastor

Many churches will celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday this weekend. It is designed to remind us of the truth that all people are made in the image of God and therefore equally valuable, deserving of protection. The tragic Supreme Court decision, Roe v Wade, disqualified preborn boys and girls from protection under the law thereby moving the ancient boundaries of protection on January 22, 1973.

Sanctity of Life Sunday is a stark reminder that every human life is inherently valuable because we are created by God and we bear His image. A person’s value does not develop over time nor depend on circumstances, ability, or age—it begins at fertilization, the moment when a new, unique human life sparks into existence. Remembering this truth anchors our moral vision and challenges a culture that often measures worth by convenience, productivity, pleasure, or independence. When we affirm the sanctity of life from its very beginning, we affirm that no human being is disposable.

At the heart of this conviction is God’s Royal command found in James 2:8: “If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing well.” To love our neighbor as ourselves includes loving those who cannot speak for themselves or protect themselves. Faithfulness to the Gospel compels us to extend love not only in sentiment, but in action, toward these smallest boys and girls.

CompassCare’s 2026 goal is to double the number of women and babies served in the nation’s abortion capital, New York. Women need you now more than ever.

Christians are pro-life because we understand who God is and what it means to be human. It is God’s heart to seek and save the weak and the vulnerable. The preborn child is the weakest and most vulnerable of our neighbors—completely dependent, unseen, and easily overlooked.

To remember the sanctity of human life, then, is to recommit ourselves to a love that is courageous in the face of a crooked culture, compassionate in the face of a lawless policy, and consistent despite the chaos and uncertainty of our times. It means standing for the dignity of every human being while extending God’s grace, support, and hope to desperate mothers who feel the death that is abortion will somehow become a source of life for her.

When we love the most vulnerable among us, we live out the heart of the Gospel and reflect the character of God who created and loves every person. And He calls His people to do the same.

CompassCare has been on the front lines of serving women and saving babies since 1980, just seven years after Roe v. Wade. In that time frame, we have developed a multitude of pro-life resources, tools and educational materials to help God’s people forge a more pro-life community.

Consider reading one of my books, such as Are you Pro-life for the Right Reasons, learning about the theological first principles undergirding why Christians are pro-life. Or understand the medical ethics behind women’s reproductive healthcare by reading my book Ethical Theory and Pertinent Standards in Women’s Reproductive Healthcare. Or contextualize current events from my NEWSMAX column, Harden’s Hard Truths, to my monthly letter, “From the Desk of the President.” And coming this February, watch for the release of my latest book, Endure the Rising Christian Persecution.
