This is Shantelle’s story in her own words:
“It’s very hard to come across people who they hear what you go through and they just don’t judge you. When I walked into CompassCare my mind was like, ‘Just get the abortion… I’ll get over it at some point, you know.’ But then the sonogram technician came in the room… And I saw the little baby. I wasn’t really excited to see it at first, but then I don’t know, I think the baby was, like, dancing. And it just showed that it was like a little happy baby. To just see such happiness on the screen and the baby’s not even here yet.
We all started crying. If they believed in me that I could figure it out, and I could be OK then, maybe it’s something in myself that I don’t see but they saw. And to just be able to guide me in the right direction… I was going to be OK.”
