“Wow… that changed my mind!”

Cierra believed every life has a purpose.

She was already a mother to a beautiful toddler when she discovered she was pregnant again. But when she told the father of the baby, he wanted her to get an abortion.

With college and career looming large in her mind and his wishes weighing heavily, she began to think abortion was her only choice.

She found CompassCare and scheduled an appointment to get more information about her pregnancy.

She realized that no matter the outcome of her pregnancy, she needed to know three things: 1) “Am I really pregnant?” 2) “How far along am I?” and 3) “Do I have an STD?” Abortionists don’t answer these vital questions for women, but CompassCare does. When she arrived at CompassCare, she was greeted by a smiling receptionist. “You nurse will be with you in just a minute!”

Cierra immediately felt welcomed by her nurse. She was so kind and caring, exuding such professionalism and excellence in her work.

Cierra had never felt so cared for by an otherwise perfect stranger. “There’s something about CompassCare…” she said later, recounting her experience.

The ultrasound that day revealed she was 9 weeks pregnant and the baby was moving around with a strong heartbeat. Cierra saw that baby on screen and said, “Wow… that changed my mind!”

When Cierra’s loving nurse shared the hope of the Gospel with her, she admitted that she does believe that God creates every life for a reason, whether it’s in her plan or not. Cierra’s perspective began to shift. She could envision her life with a new baby. Yes, juggling college and a career would be a challenge, but she talked about how she knows that she has plenty of support that would help her even if it would be hard.

In the coming weeks and months, CompassCare will see Cierra for follow-up care and to help connect her with community resources.

Cierra came to CompassCare “abortion-determined.” CompassCare has found that, nine times out of ten, if an “abortion-determined” woman goes to Planned Parenthood or another abortionist, she will have an abortion.

It is not hyperbole that Cierra’s baby would have been lost without your support. It is a measurable fact.

Next week, many women are already scheduled to be served in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, NYC, and through TeleCare. Help get even more women the care and support they need to say no to abortion and yes to their babies.

Serve women. Save babies.
