Biden Admin HIPAA Rule Change Protects Abortionists and Sex Traffickers (RAN)

The Biden administration is attempting to expand the rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) ostensibly to protect women receiving abortion from prosecution. Yet, no state has or intends to enact laws criminalizing women who receive abortion. 18 State Attorneys General communicated concern, including Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr who stated the rule change would “… hinder law enforcement’s ability to gather information about crimes against women…. We are trying to stop dangerous traffickers, rapists, predators and abusers, but this rule change will make it harder to hold such criminals accountable.” With sex trafficking and abortion injury at all-time highs, barring doctors from reporting sex criminals covering their crimes with abortion turns the system against those it is designed to protect.
