Is Jesus Your Good Samaritan?

A lawyer asked Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?” Jesus said to love God and love your neighbor. Wishing to justify his poor behavior the lawyer asked, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with a story of a stranger beaten and left for dead on a dangerous road. After the political and religious leaders refused to stop and help, a foreigner from Samaria had compassion, bandaged up his wounds and paid for his recovery.

Easter reminds us that Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins means that He became the Good Samaritan for people beaten and left for dead by their sin. As recipients of God’s love, what should we do with our new found life? Jesus told the lawyer: “Go and do likewise.” On behalf of women facing unplanned pregnancy and the babies CompassCare helps them have, Happy Easter.
