Supreme Court Protects Religious Order from Funding Abortions

Obamacare required all health insurance plans to pay for abortion and abortion-causing contraception. No one was exempt, including faith-based businesses and religious institutions like Little Sisters of the Poor. Onerous Obamacare mandates muzzled the religious freedom of Americans by threatening millions of dollars of fines if they refused to violate their convictions by funding abortion through their health insurance plans.

The Trump administration ordered a change in the Obamacare regulation protecting the conscience rights of people like the Little Sisters. Trump’s order was challenged and went to the Supreme Court. In July, the court decisively upheld the right for people to live out their religious beliefs 7 to 2.

Justice Alito said that religious exemptions are required by existing law. Why is abortion being used to restrict religious liberty?
