Cuomo recently signed into law the Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act. This law mandates all health insurance plans cover without copay all abortion-causing drugs and devices not only for enrollees but their spouses, domestic partners, and dependents.
Health insurance plans and benefits are directly paid for by individual enrollees. This new law means that the enrollees are now forced to collectively pay for the abortions, sterilizations, and contraceptives of those enrolled in their same plan.
This is a problem for those who believe all human life is equally valuable and deserving of protection, for whom participating in ending the life of a baby in the womb is forbidden. Why is New York ignoring religious liberty exemptions upheld by the Supreme Court on the Obamacare Contraception mandates? Why is New York forcing all health insurance enrollees to violate their deeply held religious convictions?
